The Caravan and Camping Supershow doing its bit for the environment
The environmental aim of the CCIA and the Supershow is to:
Foster sustainable economic, environmental and socially responsible management that meets the expectations of customers, the aspirations of staff and the needs of future generations.
Organisers of the Caravan and Camping Supershow continually develop techniques to reduce the event’s environmental footprint and these include:
- Landscaping & Water: All green waste is mulched and reused on
site; water for irrigation purposes is harvested from an onsite dam and
there is an increased number of native species plantings each year.
-
Waste: The Caravan and Camping Supershow has been a plastic bag free event since 2008.
Exhibitors are able to distribute paper or reusable fabric bags only. Free calico bags are distributed each year to
visitors form a dedicated calico bag stand.
-
Air and noise pollution: Electric buggy ferries visitors through the
site to the main gates. Shuttle buses transport visitors from the gates
to the main parking area in the centre of the site. Carbon neutral ATM
machine on site. Parking attendants direct parking traffic to reduce
dust and prevent erosion of soil areas. The
opening hours of the NSW Supershow are 10am until 5pm which ensures
environmental and social responsible management through noise control
strategies and energy conservation.
-
Safety and emergency response planning: No cars on site at least half
hour before the opening. Bulk people movers (electric) to increase
visitor safety in parking area and surrounding roads). Fulltime
professional OHS officer on site at all times. A detailed Risk
Management and Safety Plan is developed for the Caravan and Camping Supershow and a Safety
Management Team conducts a site Safety Audit to identify hazards and to
correct them.
-
Local Community: Working with the local hotels, motels and caravan and
holiday parks to provide accommodation to visitors as well as promoting
local events information at Rydges Hotel contribute to engagement of
the local community during the Supershow.
